This feature adds facial detection capabilities to the Timestation clock-in/out system on the iPad, providing an additional layer of identity verification to increase accuracy in attendance tracking, while preserving ease of use for employees.
Important Note: This feature implements facial detection, not facial recognition. It does not identify or recognise individual employees’ faces. Instead, it simply detects whether a face is present in the camera frame at the time of clocking in or out. No personal biometric identification or matching occurs within this process.
You may need to update your Timestation App to the latest version to get Facial Detection. You can do this through the App Store.
This feature is ONLY available on iOS and iPads, it is not on the Android version of Timestation.
How to Enable Facial Detection
Log in to the Manager Portal within the Timestation by clicking on the silhouette in the bottom left corner, then entering the Manager PIN
2. Click on Settings
3. Under “Facial Detection” there are 2 settings:
Enable Facial Detection
Activates facial detection on the timestation.
Employees receive visual feedback indicating whether their face is currently detected (in frame) or not.
Importantly, employees can still clock in/out without a detected face, ensuring no disruption or friction in time and attendance (T&A) tracking.
Require Face for Clock in/out
When enabled, facial detection becomes mandatory for clocking in/out.
If no face is detected, the PIN keypad is disabled, preventing clock-in/out until a face is successfully recognised.
This setting ensures biometric verification is strictly enforced for attendance records, enhancing security and accuracy.
We therefore recommend you turn both options "ON" to use facial detection/
When Facial Detection Flow is not Required:
Note that the PIN is still editable and be entered by the employee, even if the face is not detected.
When Facial Detection is Required:
Note that the PIN is NOT editable and cannot be entered by the employee until a face is detected and within the frame. This means your face must be visible to allow employees to clock in.
Recommended Installation Height for Facial Detection
Mount the Timestation approximately 4 feet from the floor. Depending on your staff's average height - this height may need slight adjustment.
Optimal Device Angle for Facial Detection
The iPad should be angled upward at approximately 45 degrees, whether mounted on a wall or placed on a desk. This setup ensures the camera has a clear, unobstructed view of the user’s face. We also recommend that you lock the orientation of your iPad to keep the camera view uniform.
We strongly recommend mounting your iPad using a secure bracket. Based on our testing, a proper mount significantly improves face detection accuracy and overall user experience.
Note: iPads come in a range of sizes depending on the generation.
The most common models used with Bizimply are:
10.2″ (7th, 8th, and 9th generation)
10.9″ (10th and 11th generation
Recommended Wall Mounts for Facial Detection
We recommend Beelta Tablet Mounts – they’re reliable, affordable, and easy to install. These mounts can be wall-mounted or placed on a counter, depending on your requirements;

If the generation isn’t shown:
Tap on "Model Number" (it may start with “M” or “A”)
Copy that number (e.g. MR7F2B/A or A2197)
Paste it into Apple’s official model lookup:
This will confirm which generation you’re using so you can choose the correct mount.
